Win the Payoffs, Learn 4 Card Poker Rules

4 card poker rules are a design of a game genius named Roger Snow. The nature of 4 card poker rules, like its 3 card poker cousin, allows the game to be played in two ways. Except for the hand rank values, 4 card poker rules bear little resemblance to 5 card poker games like Texas hold 'em and Omaha poker.

In 4 card poker, the player receives 5 facedown cards from the dealer; the dealer deals oneself 5 facedown cards and a single face up card. However, both dealer and player shall use only 4 cards. As such, the player has to disregard one unneeded card while dealer has to get rid of two.

On top of a 4 card poker table, a player will find 3 circles. One circle is labeled Aces Up; another is labeled Ante, and the other Raise.

Aces Up is one to play 4 card poker, and Ante-and-Raise is another way to play it.

In Aces Up, you only have to create the strongest hand possible out of your cards. In this kind of wager, your object is to have a winning poker hand. The scale of payout in this game goes with the ranking of poker hands, and so the better the value of your card, the more money you will win. Here, it doesn't matter what cards the dealer holds. If you have a good hand, you win.

The least paying of the poker hands are an Ace pair, which can win you even money. Pairs of higher value than Ace pair also win 1:1. Two pairs pay off 2: 1. Straight, 4:1. Flush, 6:1. Three of a kind, 9:1. Straight flush, 40:1. Four of a kind, 50:1.

If you need only to have a good poker hand to win in Aces Up, in Ante-and-Raise, you need to beat the dealer's hand to win. 4 card poker rules pertaining Ante-and-Raise are closer in structure to 5 card poker except that there are no rounds of betting here, or a table of poker players to play against. Here, you can choose to fold your hand or play if you think you have a good hand.

The game begins after you have placed your bet on the Ante circle. Again, you have to use only four of the five cards you will receive from the dealer, and the dealer shall use only four of his six cards.

If you fold, the dealer will have your Ante.

If you play, however, you must raise. According to 4 hand poker rules, at the minimum, the amount you need to add or raise must be equal to your Ante. At the maximum, the raise value is 3 times your Ante.

In Ante-and-Raise, a winning hand pays even money on both Ante and Raise. To win, your hand must be superior in rank value to the dealer's. If you lose, the dealer collects your bets.

There are also Ante bonuses given to the top three winning poker hands, namely: three of a kind, straight flush, and four of a kind. Ante bonuses can be acquired without regards to wins Ante-and-Raise.

Again, the four card poker rules for Aces Up are different from the 4 card poker rules for Ante-and-Raise. Aces Up and Ante-and-Raise may be played differently from each other but they're just the two types of bets a player can choose from when playing 4 card poker. Learning the specific game rules for each type of bet is the first step in winning 4 card poker.
